A wounded specialist and a threatened source of income can change the route of an entire liberation campaign. The surviving mercenaries still have contracts, skills and strong personalities, giving you reasons to regroup and hire differently. Forgiving Mode helps with healing and income if you want room to recover; the harsher death and saving options are a separate commitment. Lost people and territory are meaningful costs. Choose it for a scrappy campaign that can develop around the team left standing.
