Darkest Dungeon (2016)

Abandoning an expedition brings stress and forfeited rewards, but returning with living heroes gives the Hamlet something to rebuild around. A dead veteran leaves a gap for a new recruit, and treating the survivors competes with preparing the next team. Play Radiant or Darkest for this longer recovery story; the time and death limits of Stygian and Bloodmoon change the bargain. Some encounters restrict retreat or exact a worse cost. The appeal is managing the consequences, not expecting the dungeon to reward a brave mistake.
