A captain coordinates the voyage while the pilot, scientist, weapons specialist and engineer operate different ship systems. Knowing whether a problem needs a sensor program, a change of heading or an urgent repair gives each person a practical responsibility. The five roles are more than alternate guns, although crew members can still assist elsewhere. Plan assignments together rather than expecting a seamless swap of every class mid-crisis. AI crew can fill gaps; a human group still needs patient communication and a willingness to learn the ship.
