A side-on view makes cover, movement and firing lines easy to inspect, while early boarding missions give you a small crew to understand. Casual is one of five difficulty levels, so you can learn positioning with less severe opposition. The important extra demand is aiming your shots yourself: turns remove time pressure, but ricochets still reward a steady eye.
