The intended exploration becomes a struggle to get home, but the distance remains astonishing because every ordinary need requires a solution. Ron Howard gives the spacecraft and mission-control teams complementary kinds of concentration. Choose it for the wonder of coordinated human work rather than an undiscovered landscape. It dramatises the real 1970 emergency, and the familiar performances should not be mistaken for documentary footage.
