The band begins as a romantic bluff and becomes a place where school misfits can try out possible selves together. Rehearsals, costumes and homemade videos make loyalty visible as work people volunteer to do for one another. The songs are exhilarating, but the more useful fantasy is finding collaborators who take your ridiculous idea seriously. Family strain and school bullying keep the Dublin escape from becoming pure nostalgia.
