Pride and Prejudice (1813)

Elizabeth Bennet's quick judgements make this courtship comedy an unusually entertaining lesson in changing your mind. The attraction lies as much in the arguments, family embarrassments and financial calculations as the romance. Read it for the pleasure of recognising a mistake just before a character does.
