Offshore (1979)

Book
Offshore
8.0/10on Open LibraryPublished
On houseboats along the Thames, people with uncertain incomes and uncertain futures form a provisional community. Fitzgerald’s economy is in what she trusts the reader to notice: a practical problem, a child’s freedom or a hesitant exchange can expose a whole precarious existence. The humour keeps the residents individual while the river makes their apparent refuge feel fragile.
