The desert villa's glossy surfaces become a place where the people treating Jen as disposable lose control of the image. Coralie Fargeat exaggerates colour, bodies and physical endurance until the retaliation feels almost mythic. It is a deliberately extreme rape-revenge film, with sexual assault and spectacular gore central to the experience. The visual confidence is the invitation; realism is not the governing rule.
