Use Creative mode for an endless supply of landscape tiles and the option to discard a piece that does not suit your idea. There is no need to protect a Classic-mode run while discovering how a river or forest might fit together. The tile shapes and available motifs provide a useful frame for a first landscape. Try a tiny village edge; it need not become an enormous, perfectly planned countryside.
