The Book of Delights (2019)

Gay’s brief essays begin with small occasions for delight, then make room for thought about company, race and ordinary kindness. One piece gives a break a beginning and an end, without leaving characters or clues to remember. Read a single essay and let its observation accompany the rest of the day; the recurring voice supplies continuity when you return.
