The Sympathizer (2015)

A double agent follows South Vietnamese refugees to America while remaining divided in his loyalties and sense of self. The sharp, sometimes grotesque narration challenges a comfortable assignment of heroes and villains to a war story. It is demanding and violent, including torture and sexual violence; its value here is the sustained discomfort of seeing through more than one political frame.
