Arcanum: of Steamworks and Magick Obscura (2001)

A technological specialist and a powerful magician do not merely carry different weapons: their choices collide with the world's underlying rules. That ambition survives uneven combat and a fussy interface. The current GOG package includes modern display fixes, so test it before assembling a patch collection. Choose it for reactive character building, with patience for rough edges that compatibility fixes cannot redesign.
