Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (1995)
Game
Released
Flutter-jumping and aiming an egg give Yoshi a playful, precise movement vocabulary, while the crayon scenery makes each stage inviting to read. Start with the SNES game in Nintendo's Classics library; the Game Boy Advance edition is a later conversion with additions. Finishing the route is much gentler than collecting every flower, red coin and star, so leave perfect scores for another visit. Baby Mario's alarm when separated from Yoshi is an unavoidable part of the original soundscape.
