Rez (2001)

Locking onto a group and releasing a shot adds another sound to the music, turning a simple rail shooter into something you seem to be playing as well as hearing. It reached Dreamcast and PlayStation 2, so it was never a Dreamcast exclusive. Rez Infinite is the practical modern edition, playable on a normal screen as well as in supported VR; its Area X is a later addition, not an original stage. Try the original areas with good sound, while allowing for bright flashes and an increasingly busy screen.
