Comfort and Joy (1984)
Movie
Released
A Glasgow radio presenter loses his bearings at Christmas and finds himself trying to mediate a feud between ice-cream businesses. Bill Forsyth lets seasonal melancholy rub against a wonderfully disproportionate commercial dispute. The appeal is the gentle absurdity of being drawn into somebody else's rules when your own life has stopped making sense. A dryly funny Scottish alternative for viewers who want winter atmosphere and human eccentricity rather than a large festive lesson.
