Owlboy (2016)

Otus is mute, so his posture and expressions have to carry an especially large part of his personality. The companions are not just faces in a dialogue box either: he physically carries them through the air, and their different weapons change what that flying partnership can do. The expressive sprite work makes a mechanical arrangement feel like a relationship. Watch a quiet reaction as closely as a grand background.
