Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire (2018)

Deadfire's weak initial sales eventually gave way to a more successful long life, so treating it as a forgotten failure is misleading. Its worthwhile second chance is the richly reactive archipelago, flexible party building and competing factions. On PC, the added turn-based mode offers another way into combat; choose it when starting a campaign, since Deadfire does not freely switch modes mid-run. Prior knowledge of the first game's world helps.
