Making tea gives Alta a reason to stay with people whose needs do not fit neatly into an efficient service routine. Growing ingredients and working the brewing apparatus put a little shared activity around the conversations. Customers do not lose patience on an order timer, so you can listen before hurrying to finish the task. It is a game about a difficult relationship with work as well as the comfort of offering somebody a drink.
