Salvaging a ship can be absorbing, skilled work, but your employer measures the materials against an enormous starting debt and ongoing costs. Safety and speed become competing priorities. The campaign adds labour conflict to that loop; the satisfaction of doing the job well makes its employment terms worth questioning.
