Rachel Incident (2023)

Rachel and James meet while working in a bookshop and become flatmates whose shared year is full of desire, money worries and terrible decisions. O'Donoghue gives the friendship enough warmth to make their embarrassments matter, without requiring admiration for every choice. A useful reminder that the people who help you become yourself may matter more than the glamorous life you are trying to enter.
