The Little Stranger (2009)

A doctor's visits to a decaying country house make class aspiration part of a ghost story's atmosphere. Return to Dr Faraday's account with an ear for what draws his attention: the house, the family and his own place beside them. The unresolved unease supports more than a hunt for a single explanation. Its slow pace gives those small social judgements room to accumulate.
