Prophet Song (2023)

A mother in Dublin tries to preserve family life as the state turns authoritarian. Lynch makes each worsening circumstance force a new decision, leaving less room for the hope that normal arrangements will hold. The long, dense paragraphs add to the pressure. This is relentless, distressing reading about political collapse and danger to children, with little relief.
