Balatro (2024)

LocalThunk starts with recognisable poker hands, then lets Jokers and deck changes bend their value into increasingly unlikely scoring systems. A small set of actions produces radically different plans, with Playstack and other contributors supporting the central creator's work. The pleasure comes from discovering combinations and managing odds, including the awkward restrictions that can bring a carefully constructed scoring engine down.
