Brütal Legend (2009)

A heavy-metal landscape turns album-cover excess into a place to drive around, with guitar solos that actually do things. Then stage battles ask you to fight and command an army at once, and those overlapping controls can feel awkward. The genre mixture is the appeal as well as the compromise. It is worth the effort if music, spectacle and unusual action-strategy hybrids excite you enough to learn the battles on their own terms.
