In Iowa City, artistic ambition shares space with paid work, unequal money and the need to make a viable future. Taylor follows a wider circle around the university rather than keeping everyone inside a seminar. That wider view matters: somebody’s freedom to pursue art may rest on resources another person does not possess. Choose it for graduate-school life in contact with the working world, with difficult relationships and explicit sexual material.
