Ask the mansion's peculiar inhabitants about one another and put physical clues back to them. The fully voiced exchanges give you personalities to read as well as information to record. Forming a deduction becomes a small sentence-building puzzle, with room to try again when an answer misses. There are separate object puzzles too, making this a welcoming bridge from ordinary point-and-click exploration into conversational investigation.
