Golem and the Jinni (2013)
Book
Published
Two magical newcomers try to live among immigrant communities in turn-of-the-century New York. Work, friendship and the difficulty of controlling their own natures make the fantastic elements understandable through everyday choices. This is a patient, substantial option for historical-fiction readers. The first novel brings its central conflict to a resolution, while later books continue Chava and Ahmad's lives; choose it with that distinction in mind.
