Kiki's Delivery Service (2020)

Kiki’s first year away from home is built from delivery jobs, mistakes and the effort of gaining a town’s trust. Her limited magic gives practical problems room to matter. This children’s novel offers episodic progress and a young person’s independence, with manageable worries rather than adult romantic drama. Emily Balistrieri’s English translation gives a fresh route to the book; expect differences from the film rather than its plot reproduced on the page.
