Mammoths at the Gate (2023)
Book
Published
Mammoths at the Gates brings Chih home to an abbey in mourning, where relatives and the monastic community disagree over a dead person’s remains. Who may preserve a life, and whose account takes precedence, become practical questions at the gate. A short Singing Hills novella whose force grows with familiarity with Chih’s earlier journeys. Its hope lies in listening and negotiated belonging, with grief rather than a vacant throne organising the conflict.
