Howl's Moving Castle (1986)

Sophie, transformed into an old woman, takes refuge in a moving castle whose magical household badly needs somebody prepared to answer back. Jones makes domestic details as delightful as the larger spells: a bargain, a doorway and a fire demon can all change how a home works. Sophie's central story concludes here. Castle in the Air and House of Many Ways return to the setting with further adventures, so continuing is a choice.
