Die unendliche Geschichte (1979)

Known in English as The Neverending Story, Ende's novel follows Bastian into a book whose creatures and landscapes ask more of him than simple admiration. Wishes have costs, and the adventure changes direction as it grows. Read the complete novel, including the substantial second half beyond the first film's familiar material. Ralph Manheim's English translation offers the whole journey in one volume.
