The Monsters We Defy (2022)

Clara Johnson must steal a ring to satisfy a powerful spirit, assembling helpers with gifts that carry their own debts. The 1925 Washington, DC setting gives the crew a community beyond the job: performers, work, memory and Black social life all matter. Choose it when you want the people supporting a plan to have lives worth returning to. It is a standalone with spirit bargains, racism and a threat extending well beyond a wealthy target's valuables.
