The Thousand Deaths of Ardor Benn (2018)

Ardor calls himself a ruse artist, but stealing from a king requires forgers, disguisers and other people whose work must fit his showmanship. The scale of the schemes gives you plenty of moving parts to watch, with dragon-derived magic adding practical complications. Choose it for an expansive caper that grows into a much larger adventure. It opens the Kingdom of Grit trilogy and becomes darker than its boastful early energy might suggest.
