Foundryside (2018)

Sancia's theft of a powerful object pulls her into a struggle over the industrial magic that controls her city. The emerging group has to combine unusual perception with an understanding of systems, access and how enchanted objects can be persuaded. It is a strong choice if finding a loophole is your favourite part of a job. The first Founders novel opens into broader conflict, with slavery and exploitation making its cleverness more than a game.
