Zork (1977)

For this entry, choose the commercial Zork I text adventure included in The Zork Anthology. Its underground passages reward recording each directed exit: an eastward trip does not guarantee a westward return. Keep notes on light, obstacles and where you left useful objects. The earlier mainframe Zork has a larger geography, so its map is not interchangeable. The layout is not procedurally generated, although the thief and other events can complicate a carefully planned journey.
