Somadina (2025)

The frightening gift Somadina develops meets a very different response from the one her twin brother receives. When he vanishes, the bond that has always defined her becomes the reason to enter a Sacred Forest and places close to the spirit world. Emezi's imagined West African setting makes room for dangerous otherworldly travel, but also for a family's favouritism and difficult feelings that cannot be resolved by power alone. A young-adult rescue story with an intimate emotional centre.
