The Devil You Know (2006)

Felix Castor is a freelance exorcist, which makes ghosts both a danger and a way to pay London bills. A haunting in an archive leads him through work, favours and uncomfortable questions about his clients. Carey’s down-at-heel noir voice keeps the city’s mundane inconveniences close to the supernatural case. The first Felix Castor novel, with a grim edge and further investigations for readers who want to stay.
