The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi (2023)

Amina's return to piracy has to compete with the life she has built as a mother. Her old crew, dangerous reputation and knowledge of the Indian Ocean all come with histories, so experience is something she uses and something she has to answer for. The adventure is exuberant, but the responsibilities are adult. Start here for a middle-aged woman allowed to be formidable, funny and far from finished; this is her first novel-length outing.
