Best served cold (2009)

Monza Murcatto assembles a dangerous crew to take revenge on the people who betrayed her. The jobs, clashing personalities and vicious comic timing make the machinery compelling; the damage it does keeps revenge from becoming a clean fantasy of satisfaction. For readers interested in how justified anger can harden into a disastrous organising principle. This First Law world novel tells its own central story, but earlier books add context. Brutality is frequent.
