Highfire (2020)

Vern is a dragon hiding in a Louisiana bayou with vodka, television and very little enthusiasm for the modern world. A teenage boy and a dangerous local law officer disrupt the arrangement. Colfer turns the last-dragon idea into an adult comic crime adventure, giving loneliness and bad habits as much space as firepower. A profane, violent standalone for readers curious about a dragon who has had centuries to become irritable.
