Super Mario Odyssey (2017)

Odyssey gives Mario enough tools to make an ordinary roof worth approaching several ways. Cap bounces, dives and wall jumps combine into routes that feel discovered, while captures change your relationship with a kingdom's terrain. Its highest points come when a space accommodates both a straightforward solution and an extravagant shortcut. Assist Mode helps with learning 3D movement. The plentiful easy Moons can dilute the challenge, but the control system keeps rewarding curiosity long after the story.
