The Steerswoman (1989)

Rowan's investigation begins with objects whose locations do not quite make sense on her maps. Travelling with Bel gives observation and exchanged knowledge a practical use: the next piece of geography may change the question entirely. Kirstein makes asking careful questions as exciting as reaching a new place. Choose it for maps that grow with understanding and a strong travelling partnership. The larger series remains unfinished.
