Four novels: Dealing with Dragons, Searching for Dragons, Calling on Dragons and Talking to Dragons. Cimorene’s practical refusal of fairy-tale expectations becomes a family story whose final book follows the next generation. Read in that story order, rather than the order in which Wrede originally wrote them. Choose it for comic competence, dragons with their own priorities and a proper closing chapter. The change of narrator in the last book gives the ending a different flavour.
