Nickel Boys (2024)

RaMell Ross translates closeness to two boys' lives into a camera that repeatedly asks whose eyes we share. The visual strategy changes the experience of Whitehead's novel while preserving attention to friendship, memory and institutional brutality. Choose it for a demanding formal solution with a strong emotional purpose, rather than a transparent illustration of the plot. Racist abuse and violence against children are central.
