Choose the PC edition when you want a keyboard to become a compact set of musical lanes. Four-, five-, six- and eight-button modes let you increase the number of inputs, while the timing adjustment test helps separate consistent early or late hits from a pattern you have not learnt. A gamepad also works, but SC charts were designed for keyboard combinations rather than the pad's physical limits. Begin with four-button Normal charts and the Starter Challenge. The substantial base library and paid song packs are separate.
