Ring Shout (2020)

In Georgia in 1922, Maryse Boudreaux and her companions fight Klansmen whose hatred has acquired a literal monstrous form. Clark makes racist propaganda, including The Birth of a Nation, part of the invented supernatural machinery. That choice turns the novella into an argument about the power of stories and the people who resist them. Ferocious historical horror with violence to match: choose it when you want a short fantasy that keeps organised hatred's human consequences in view.
