The Automatic Detective (2008)

Mack Megaton is a robot trying to earn citizenship and keep a taxi-driving job in a city built on unreliable weird science. A missing family pushes him into a detective story for which his enormous strength is only intermittently useful. Martinez combines wisecracking noir with a practical question about whether a designed purpose has to become a destiny. Choose it for a complete, brisk mystery and an agreeably literal narrator.
