The dream-quest of Vellitt Boe (2016)

Professor Vellitt Boe leaves her women's college to retrieve a student who has run away with a dreamer from another world. Johnson turns Lovecraft's Dreamlands towards the people his imaginative adventures marginalised. An older woman's experience, obligations and capacity to change give the quest its scale. No Lovecraft reading is required; familiarity with him adds another layer to Vellitt's argument with her inherited world.
