Planetfall (2015)

Renata Ghali has spent decades keeping an off-world colony functional as its printer engineer. Her practical skill coexists with secrecy, grief and severe psychological distress, so the story gives her interior life as much weight as her usefulness. Newman’s close first-person narration makes this a particularly intimate choice. It opens the Planetfall setting but works as a complete novel; expect a disturbing unravelling of an apparently settled community.
